The OPTA LIFE Select Webinar Series, taught by Amy Lafko, MSPT, MBA, is four interactive webinars covering multiple topics and providing you with takeaways to increase your leadership skills.

You have the option to attend one or two of the remaining webinars.

All webinars will be held from 5:30 - 7pm; links will be sent to you the morning of the webinar.

Wednesday, March 20: Coaching for Performance

The coaching leadership style is one of the most impactful, yet least used styles of leadership.  Like every aspect of leadership, coaching is a mindset and a skillset.  During this interactive webinar, we will explore the What, Why and How of Coaching.  Using breakout room discussions and practice sessions, you will have the tools you need to uplevel your coaching.

Tuesday, April 9: Change Management

Whether you are leading the change or participating in a change happening around you, it can be tough.  While there are many frameworks that teach the change process, this webinar focuses on People First Leadership during change including mindset and skill set and how to leverage a framework with the five components of change.

Monday, June 3: Delegation + Time Management

You are a doer, involved in your professional organization, leading yourself, others and trying to live a “balanced” life.  Now is the time to acknowledge that time management is a myth so that you can take smarter action.  For leaders, a key to “time management” is delegation.  Yet delegation often goes wrong (or we are afraid to even try it).  During this webinar we will go through a process of strategic delegation and yes, talk about ways to “manage time”.

Wednesday, July 10: Performance Management

Performance management is often associated with performance issues, when we have to “manage someone out” of our organization.   But what if, we reframe the concept of performance management and view it through the lens of performance acceleration?  During this interactive webinar, we will explore the People First approach to individual and team performance.

These webinars are open to ALL current OPTA members, including students!

West Central District: DPT Research Symposium - 16th Annual Stuart Lecture https://www.ohiopt.org/events/eventdetails.aspx?id=1854350 https://www.ohiopt.org/events/eventdetails.aspx?id=1854350 The University of Dayton is hosting its annual DPT Research Symposium, where DPT students present their clinical research. The Symposium will also feature the 16th Annual Stuart Lecture.

This year's lecture will be presented by Dr. Pierce Boyne on the topic of Gait Rehabilitation After Stroke: Are We Getting the Dosing Right?

Clinical practice guidelines for improving walking outcomes in chronic stroke recommend locomotor training at moderate to vigorous intensities, and this approach has been emphasized in clinical implementation efforts across the continuum of post-acute rehabilitation. However, the effects of locomotor training had not been quantitatively synthesized in chronic stroke, nor synthesized at all in subacute stroke, and the amount of variability in responsiveness was unclear. In addition, there is uncertainty about how to optimally “dose” locomotor training in terms of intensity and duration, and about which aspect of intensity is the most important to prioritize. This presentation will highlight recent and emerging research aiming to address these knowledge gaps, using diverse methodologic approaches, including meta-analysis, a multi-center clinical trial, and statistical mediation models. Some new findings to be presented suggest that we may be missing the mark for optimal dosing of locomotor training in stroke rehabilitation.

Content Leader: Pierce Boyne, PT, DPT, PhD, Board-Certified Neurologic Clinical Specialist, is an associate professor at the University of Cincinnati and Co-Director of the UC Neurorecovery Lab. He earned his doctorate in physical therapy, his PhD in Epidemiology and his bachelor's degree in Health Science from the University of Cincinnati. His current research aims to understand how the brain contributes to walking capacity, how that control is affected by brain injuries like stroke and how to best intervene to facilitate walking recovery.

This lecture is approved for 1 CEU, 24S1739.

This program is open to all healthcare professionals and there is no fee to attend.
