The Student Special Interest Group (SSIG) is the voice of students in the OPTA.

All student members of OPTA are eligible to join the SSIG as a FREE benefit of your APTA/OPTA membership!

SSIG Goals

AIM #1

Increase student and academic program participation and membership in the OPTA SSIG through student outreach by engaging all Ohio DPT and PTA academic programs through various platforms and modes of recruitment and engagement.

AIM #2

Facilitate student engagement and enhance membership value by providing professional formation/ development opportunities through various OPTA SSIG events (i.e. monthly SSIG meetings, guest speakers, and other information-sharing/ learning activities).

AIM #3

Promote professional development, networking, and mentorship through various platforms to enhance and promote DPT and PTA academic program collaboration.

Steps to Get Involved:

1. Fill out the OPTA Student SIG Membership Registration Form and you will be added to the SSIG member mailing list.

2. Find out who is your school SSIG Representative + view the SSIG representative role description.

3. Listen in on a SSIG Conference Call meeting. SSIG Conference Call meetings take place one Tuesday of each month at 7 p.m. Check the SSIG Conference Call page for a list of upcoming meeting dates + meeting minutes.
