Joy and Fulfillment at Work
Daniel Chelette,PT, DPT
“If you love what you do, you will never work a day in your life.” We have all heard this cliché. It sounds wonderful: Find something you truly love to do, and this will lead you to a life of consistent fulfillment, enjoyment and fun. It is important that we pursue passion, fulfillment, and enjoyment in life. And finding these things in the work that we do is important and can add to the overall quality of life that we experience. Our relationship with our work, just like life, is not a linear, consistent process. We go through ebbs and flows. We have good days and bad days. We go through seasons of life and our careers where our work is more or less fulfilling than it used to be. This is a reality of life we can probably all agree upon. This discussion will center upon the ideas surrounding “finding” joy and fulfillment in our daily work. We will discuss key concepts and buzzwords, such as “resiliency” and “burnout.” The goal of the discussion will be to provide information to all for those who attend to apply what they find meaningful to their own individual circumstances.
