"OPTimize: OPTA's Lecture Series and Research Showcase on Population Health & Movement" will focus on the evidence to support physical therapy practice and interventions for population health and movement across the continuum - including all portions of the lifespan and in all practice areas. What is population health? According to the Institute for Healthcare Improvement, “Population health is defined as the health outcomes of a group of individuals, including the distribution of such outcomes within the group. These groups are often geographic populations such as nations or communities, but can also be other groups such as employees, ethnic groups, [individuals with disabilities], prisoners, or any other defined group.”
Physical therapy professionals continue to provide essential individual interventions related to health and disease. However, population health topics are becoming increasingly important in our evolving healthcare landscape, especially those that can be positively affected by movement. Join the Ohio Physical Therapy Association for a research-based conference featuring the popular 18-minute TED Talks inspired, "Research-Shorts" and our poster presentations on clinical or science-based investigations, case studies and special interest topics. Save the date for Friday, September 28.
