LEAP: Fall 2020 | Friday, Sept. 25 | Nationwide Hotel & Conference Center, Lewis Center
(formerly OPTimize: OPTA's Lecture Series and Research Showcase)

LEAP TALK CALL FOR PROPOSALS ON "Clinical Pearls to Optimize Your Best Practice" - CLOSED

APTA will celebrate 100 years in 2021! As we look forward to this landmark centennial, we want to embrace our rich history to propel us into the next century as the largest community for physical therapists, physical therapist assistants, and students. OPTA's LEAP: Fall 2020 conference is designed to generate forward momentum by sharing Clinical Pearls to Optimize Your Best Practice.

Content leaders will inspire and educate the audience with succinct, well-developed, evidenced-based clinical pearls [clinically relevant information from medical literature and therapist experience that will enhance patient care] Linking Evidence And Practice [LEAP] with 16-18 minute LEAP Talks.

Do you have a clinical practice, consultation, education, research, administration, or a nontraditional physical therapy clinical pearl to share?  You might be the speaker we are looking for.  What expertise or experience can you contribute that links evidence and practice and will enhance the skills of physical therapists, physical therapist assistants, and students?

OPTA is now accepting presentation proposals Linking Evidence And Practice [LEAP]. These 16-18 minute LEAP Talks are designed to relate current topics affecting physical therapy practice to various practice settings (education, research, acute care, outpatient, SNF, pediatrics, pelvic health, etc.) The Conference Committee encourages proposal submissions for evidence-based Clinical Pearls that may include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Important Physical Therapy Research

  • Engaging Case Studies

  • Novel or Updated Treatment Techniques

  • Emotional Intelligence

  • Therapeutic Alliance

  • Clinical Education

  • Tests and Measures

  • Diagnostics

  • APTA’s Vision Statement Guiding Principles

  • Specialty Areas (Cardiovascular & Pulmonary, Clinical Electrophysiology, Oncology, Women’s Health, Geriatrics, Neurology, Orthopedics, Pediatrics, Sports)

LEAP Talks will showcase speakers who will educate attendees with focused, well-developed, evidence-based information. Content leaders will be challenged to inspire the audience in 16-18 minutes. Speakers will have the opportunity to augment their presentation with up to 10 concise and visually pleasing PowerPoint slides.

NOTE: Due to the brevity of the LEAP Talk, we encourage one content leader per talk. The Conference Committee will consider a second content leader if the Talk topic lends itself to a second content leader. Please explain the need for a second content leader in your proposal under the section "additional information."

NOTE: This Call for Proposals is for LEAP Talks only. A separate Call for ABSTRACT Proposals for poster and platform presentations can be found HERE.

Only current APTA/OPTA members are invited to speak at LEAP: Fall 2020.
