Call for Presentation Proposals(CLOSED)

Submissions accepted Oct. 7 - Nov. 15

Transform: OPTA's Annual Conference

The OPTA Conference Committee is seeking presentation proposals for the 2020 Annual Conference. Bring your transformative knowledge and physical therapy expertise to TRANSFORM: OPTA’s 2020 Annual Conference in Columbus. TRANSFORM is about advancing the physical therapy practice by evaluating significant and evolving topics. Physical therapists, physical therapist assistants, and students will enhance their skills and join in constructive concept exchanges through innovative educational sessions. Don’t miss out on this opportunity to feature essential and progressive practices that will influence patient outcomes and the future of our profession.

The theme for 2020 is Wellness & Prevention.

We're looking for important Wellness & Prevention proposal topics that link evidence and practice (LEAP) and apply to all practice settings. Topics of interest for our clients and ourselves (PT/PTA professionals & students) include, but are not limited to, the items listed below.

  • Women’s/men’s health
  • Positioning and seating
  • Resilience
  • Balance and falls
  • Stress/practitioner wellness
  • Innovative clinical education
  • Leadership
  • Movement system
  • Population health
  • PT/PTA collaboration
  • Value-based care
  • Work-life balance & burnout
  • Sports injury prevention
  • Osteoporosis management
  • Pain management

Education Sessions: 1.5-hour sessions designed to provide dynamic, participatory, and leading-edge learning. For more comprehensive subjects, double sessions may be submitted and linked by title (Title: Session 1, Title: Session 2). We recommend a maximum of two content leaders per session; we will consider additional content leaders if it makes sense for the presentation.  If you propose more than two content leaders, submit your proposal and contact Professional Development Manager Patti Geary with the additional information.

Transform Talk16-18-minute presentations designed to engage and inspire in a TED-Talk style session. These talks are evidence-based, concise, and transformative. The Transform Talk format is best with one content leader, and this is recommended. We will consider up to two content leaders if it makes sense for the presentation. If you propose a second content leader, include their name, email and biography in the box "additional information."

NEW! 2020 Transform will also include a Residency/Fellowship Forum: 10-12-minute presentations of case studies or research projects. The presentation should support the conference theme of Wellness & Prevention, but it is not required to do so. The Residency/Fellowship Forum is open to PT residents, fellows and graduates within the past year, of any ABPTRFE-accredited Ohio PT residency program.  For more information, and to submit an abstract, visit this page.

Education Session and Transform Talk proposal submissions must include the following (click on the orange links for document examples):
